Genealogy & Associates is a research-based
firm which originated in 1984, now offering historical
& genealogical research, software training, genealogical
education, and an extensive bookstore with over 1,000
high-quality historical & genealogical books.
We also conduct
educational lectures in the field of historical research
and computer sciences, including auditorium and classroom
presentations.
Hunt Genealogy & Associates
originated in the 1980s in the heart of East
Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. We began as a small
research-based business offering genealogical services,
products and computer-related services, and was founded
by Shelia Steele Hunt of Kingsport, Tennessee. Over
the past 20 years, we have conducted onsite historical
and genealogical research for individuals and large
firms in various cities across the U.S., including
Salt Lake City, Fort Wayne, Washington, D.C. in addition
to numerous state capitols.

About Shelia Steele Hunt
Shelia Steele
Hunt, Founder & Director of Hunt Genealogy &
Associates, has conducted extensive historical and
genealogical research across the US for over 20 years.
Throughout most of her lifetime, she has been involved
in various phases of family history. Educated at Virginia
Intermont, Ms. Hunt has worked professionally in computer
technology since 1968. In 1984, she combined her love
of computer technology with family history. Some of

Ms. Hunt's work
in the genealogical field has included designing &
teaching independent genealogy courses and workshops
throughout the US, with a focus on East Tennessee
and Southwest Virginia. She has authored several historical
and genealogical books, and has previously published
a book on Internet genealogy. She has conducted historical
research in Salt Lake City, Washington, DC, Fort Wayne,
Indiana. She has conducted onsite research in various
state capitols for states of Tennessee, Virginia,
North Carolina, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Ohio,
South Carolina, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas,
Indiana and others. In the interest of promoting genealogical
education in the US, Ms. Hunt has organized several
overnight Family History Research Tours to various
state and national repositories including Salt Lake
City.
In 1993, Ms.
Hunt has served as Cochairman of Family History for
Families and History of Sullivan County, Tennessee
1779-1992, and later served as Author and
Chairman of the Sullivan County, Tennessee 1870
Census, published by Holston Territory Genealogical
Society. In 1996, Ms. Hunt was instrumental in founding
the Sullivan County Genealogical Society, and currently
serves on its Board of Directors. She recently served
as Cochairman for the Pictorial History of Sullivan
County, Tennessee, published by the Sullivan
County Genealogical Society.
Ms. Hunt has
been successful in proving various ancestral lineages
for Dames of the Magna Charta, Colonial Dames Seventeenth
Century, Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters
of 1812, United Daughters of the Confederacy, and
First Families of Tennessee. She is currently a member
of 26 genealogical organizations throughout the US,
and is a member of the Association of Professional
Genealogists. She is presently serving as Genealogist
for the Sullivan County Records Commission, and is
supporting its efforts in the establishment of a county
archives for Sullivan County. Ms. Hunt currently resides
with her family in Blountville, Tennessee.
