historian of Southwest Virginia and Western North
Carolina, will be the guest speaker. Mr. Weaver is
especially noted for his knowledge of Southwest Virginia
and the Civil War, and his lecture is entitled, "Warlords
of Southwest Virginia During the Civil War".
The lecture is free and the public is cordially
invited.

Funfest Genealogy Workshop
The Kingsport Public Library will host a genealogy
workshop at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2003 in
the Meade Auditorium of the library in downtown Kingsport.
The workshop includes two lectures presented by Professional
Genealogist, Shelia Steele Hunt. In her first lecture,
Ms. Hunt will provide a step-by-step introduction
to family history in "Beginning Genealogy".
The second presentation is entitled "The Hagan
Documents: The Story fo Patrick Hagan of Dungannon,
Virginia", and will include a showcase of 57
volumes of rare documents which include thousands
of notes, letters, and business docuemtns collected
by Patrick Hagan of Scott County and by his son Charles
Hagan of Bristol, Virginia. Dated between 1830 and
1930, the historic documents richly portray the life
and times of hundreds of individuals and businesses
in Southwest Virginia and East Tennessee during that
time-frame. Admission is free, and the general public
is cordially invited to attend the viewing. Pre-registration/reservations
are required before July 18 by contacting Librarian,

at the East Tennessee Historical Center in Knoxville.
Workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. "Researching
Early Court Records" will be one of the major
topics presented by Shelia Steele Hunt of Hunt Genealogy
